Dear Guest,

May I be frank with you?

Sometimes it very hard to serve you with a good attitude.

Especially if you act as though I am only there to serve you and only you. You say you are ready to order and then take another ten minutes to decide what you thought you wanted wasn't what you really wanted. Instead what you really want is a bacon cheese burger, hold the cheese, hold the bacon, add jalapenos, leaf lettace instead of shredded, and a burger patty cooked so medium rare it's mooing. Instead of fries you want onion rings with extra dipping sauces and last but not least, a Diet Coke.

You let your children run wild around the resturant and then get upset when they run into a server and fall down, even when the server was trying very hard not to bump them.

You come in to eat ten minutes before closing and then camp for hours, even after every single item in the resturant is shining and the chairs are put up.

You leave a great comment card saying I was the best server you ever had and that I should get a raise yet you "forget" to tip.

Then there are the times when I truly enjoy serving you. Like when you are patient when I have five other needy tables, when you say,"This is going to be a complicated order." And it's the burger off the menu, maybe hold the pickle relish, and a Dr Pepper. Or when your children are adorable, say please and thank you, and draw the server a picture. (those children get "leftover" milkshakes!) when you come in with a big party and remember to tip, not only tip but tip 30 or 40%.

When you enjoy the service given, when you have a genuinely good time and leave with full bellies and smiles on your faces.

That my dear Guest is when I love what I do and that is when you get great service.

Sincerely,

Your Server
